YOUR EVERYDAY JEWELRY

Our jewelry is made from recycled 925 silver, 3µm gold-plated or 5µm vermeil, and recycled 18k COC gold, in jewelry workshops in Italy and France. This level of material quality isn't incidental — it directly determines what your jewelry can withstand over time.

Does Maison Mouche silver tarnish?

Silver tarnishes when it's low quality, or exposed to certain harsh chemicals. The recycled 925 silver we use withstands daily wear without any special treatment.

What you may notice over time: a slight natural patina in areas of friction, which fades with a soft cloth. This isn't wear — it's the metal living. A quick pass with a polishing cloth immediately restores the piece's shine.

What can tarnish silver: repeated, direct contact with perfume or concentrated chemicals. Water and soap are not a problem in normal daily wear.

Does vermeil hold up to daily wear?

Vermeil is silver covered in gold. Its durability depends directly on the thickness of the plating — that's why we use 5 microns, significantly thicker than standard practice (1 to 2 microns).

In practice: our vermeil pieces are worn every day, without removing them to wash your hands, work, or go about your day. Contact with water and soap has no effect. Occasional use of hand sanitizer doesn't damage the plating.

What's best to avoid: direct, repeated contact with perfume (spray it before putting on your jewelry), harsh cleaning products, and heavily chlorinated environments like swimming pools, or seawater.

Can I wear my jewelry while working?

Yes. Our jewelry is light, comfortable, and goes everywhere with you. Rings and earrings are designed to stay out of the way during everyday movements, withstand frequent handwashing, and stay discreet without disappearing.

How do you clean Maison Mouche jewelry?

For silver: a soft cloth or polishing cloth is enough. No product needed — light rubbing removes marks and restores shine in seconds.

For vermeil: a gentle clean with lukewarm soapy water, followed by drying with a soft cloth. Never rub vermeil vigorously — dab it instead.

For 18-karat gold: the same lukewarm water cleaning works. Solid gold requires almost no special care.
